Kitchen Gadgets for Good Health
Your kitchen can be a great source of calorie-saving opportunities. Think about all the gadgets you use everyday. That's the topic of my TODAY show segment. (Click below to watch the video.)From food scales and measuring cups (none of us are good "estimators"), to strainers and microplane graters, you'll get an idea of what your everyday kitchen tools can do to cut calories, fat, and salt.
One of my own personal favorites is the apple corer/slicer. Take an apple, and slide this easy-to-push mini-wheel over the apple, and it's instantly cored, with 8 perfect slices. A sprinkle of cinnamon, and I have an indulgent treat. (40 seconds in the microwave is even better!)
What are your favorite kitchen gadgets for healthier eating?

A few of my favorite kitchen gadgets are the Wolfgang Puck food processor - This makes it easy to stay on a healthy diet by eating more vegetables and fruits and avoid all those pre-packaged, high sodium, high saturated fat frozen meals. Chopping my own ground meat, cheese, vegetables/herbs and still be able to make ice cream for dessert!
Another favorite is the Vidalia Chop Wizard (an impulsive infomercial buy but it surprisingly relaly works). it's great to be able to easily chop vegetables, because often time laziness gets in the way of us eating healthy.

Has anybody else had success with eating healthy using a food processor? The Home Shopping Network folks seem to love the results http://www.buzzillions.com/dz_747396_wolfgang_puck_bistro_900_watt_food_reviews
I must find the chicken stock "tea pot" that you had on the Today show Feb 1. Where can I find one?
I realize microwaves no longer count as "gadgets," but without mine I'd be lost. If I had to cook every meal over a stove, it'd be restaurants every night!
i hate myself
I'm a sucker for gadgets so I have quite a few, some of whom haven't seen the light of day in quite some time. The one I probably use the most is my Oxo Salad Spinner. It's just the right size to make a salad for two people so it's small enough to stay out on the counter to remind me that a salad is always a good idea.
I also just got a Salton Yogurt Maker and made my first batch yesterday. It was delicious and one-fifth the price of store-bought. It also has none of the odd ingredients you find when you start reading the fine print on the side of yogurt cartons. Gelatin? Corn starch?
Vidalia Chop Wizard, huh? Hmmmmm....
